Tall and large-framed individuals have long had to make do with office and gaming chairs that don’t provide sufficient body support. As a result, they may suffer from chronic neck pain, increased stress, and general discomfort. Studies have shown that providing workers with ergonomically appropriate chairs can increase their productivity by 17%.
Against this backdrop, LiberNovo is introducing the Maxis Series, a ground-up redesign that incorporates its world-first Dynamic Ergonomics scientific approach. The Maxis join the award-winning Omni series, designed for standard body types and powered by LiberNovo’s world-first Dynamic Ergonomics system.
Common pain points with traditional office chairs
Whether you’re a creative professional, gamer, software developer, tech worker, or simply a health-conscious person, you’re likely familiar with the pain points associated with most office chairs.
Studies show people shift their sitting posture eight to 19 times per hour. That means that over the course of an eight-hour workday, your body may make more than 150 adjustments. Keeping up with that movement in a traditional chair would require more than 600 manual adjustments a day to the headrest, armrests, and backrest to keep them perfectly positioned for maximum comfort.
However, even if you were to make all those manual adjustments, that approach doesn’t work well either. Common problems and pain points with standard chairs include:
- Headrests with an insufficient range of motion, making it difficult to find the most desirable position
- Lack of tailored support for the shoulders and back
- Armrests that are too narrow, too short, or both
- Seat cushions that are too shallow
- Recline mechanisms that aren’t reliable enough for the comfort of larger users
LiberNovo is on a mission to change chair dynamics and make seating more comfortable for everyone, including larger people. The LiberNovo dynamic ergonomic chair has 60 precision joints, each of which reacts in milliseconds to even slight changes in position, providing continuous back support. It also features four synchronized mechanisms to continuously support the back, neck, hips, and arms.
LiberNovo Maxis provides relief for larger users
The new Maxis Series offers multiple features for individuals with larger frames. Available in three models — Electric, Manual, and Airflow — the Maxis Series chairs include:
- A broader chair frame, specifically designed for people ranging from 5’10” to 6’7″ (178 cm – 200 cm) in height and weights up to 399 lb. (181 kg) — providing room to breathe
- Increased headrest adjustability, for heights up to 6’7”
- Customized armrests, providing more freedom of movement without the squeeze
- 20.5-in. (52 cm) seat depth, for proper leg support
Big and tall users will also appreciate the patented six-spring recline control system. Traditional chairs often drop abruptly, creating a feeling of weightlessness and instability, especially for big and tall users. The Maxis controlled recline system engages progressively, based on angle and weight, delivering a smooth, stable, and reassuring recline. Users experience no sudden drops or wobbles, enabling them to recline with confidence.
Additional features include the Maxis bionic FlexFit backrest, an adaptive backrest that includes eight flexible panels joined by a 14-point linkage system. It delivers controlled flexibility and stable, dynamic spinal support.
The backrest is powered by the ErgoPulse Motor system, which sculpts an S-curve to keep the spine aligned with every move for superior lumbar support. Each of the supports adjusts automatically as you move, from neck support to armrests, delivering continuous, effortless alignment without manual adjustment.
Five backrest modes enable users to choose varying levels of recline, from 105° for an upright, deep-focus mode to 160° for a full recline, so individuals can, for example, relax while chatting on the phone or take a nap.
The Maxis Electric and Airflow models include OmniStretch Mode, which provides a five-minute spinal massage with a gentle, decompression-style motion. OmniStretch is designed to reset the body, relieve built-up tension, and support recovery during long sitting sessions.
The Maxis come with a choice of fabrics, including soft-touch stretch Olefin fabrics that feature advanced abrasion and pilling resistance. They are also available in Danish Gabriel Atlantic Fabric, a highly breathable fabric that complies with the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, certifying that it has passed safety tests for harmful substances.
The Maxis Airflow model also features an active seat ventilation system. The system features a five-layer breathable structure and a quiet, battery-powered centrifugal fan that draws in cool air, with two airflow levels to choose from. Built-in sensors automatically stop the fan when you leave the seat and restart it when you return, for effortless use and improved energy efficiency.
Rounding out the LiberNovo family
The Maxis Series adds to the LiberNovo family of products, which also includes the original Omni, the world’s first dynamic ergonomic chair. The Omni Series includes the original Omni in addition to the Omni SE and Omni Pro, to meet a range of requirements.
LiberNovo was founded in 2023, and the Omni was the result of two years of research and development. It debuted at NeoCon 2025, earning strong recognition from media outlets as well as industry professionals. A 2025 Kickstarter campaign raised over $10 million from more than 11,500 backers, the most raised in Kickstarter history for an ergonomic chair project. It likewise set a record for ergonomic chairs on Japan’s Makuake crowdfunding platform, concluding in late 2025 with more than 460 million Japanese yen ($2.8 million) from nearly 5,000 backers.
LiberNovo Omni was the winner of both the Red Dot: Product Design 2026 award and the iF DESIGN AWARD 2026. Red Dot is one of the world’s top three design awards, considered a global benchmark for innovation and product quality. The iF DESIGN AWARD recognizes innovative, functional, and user-centric designs and is widely recognized as one of the most respected awards in international design.
